Disable Microsoft's Cortana in Windows 10 Anniversary Update

Anyway, Microsoft doesn’t skip the Cortana and it keeps always in live position. You are wish to able to disable the Cortana in Windows 10, where you can find those option Microsoft bring you easy toggle to make switch off in Windows10s Anniversary Update. But this feature already positioned in Windows registry hack or gps (group policy settings). These changes bring inside the ”Search Windows” tool to find applications and documents searches. Since Windows 10 arrived that Cortana has been dominating with some restriction. The feature gets an update to skip default browser. But the Cortana recommended Microsoft Edge browser and only allow Bing search engine to search anything on the web. If the function doesn’t approach any users and wants to remove from Windows 10. Use Windows Registry to Disable Cortana:

If you use Window Home, Professional or Enterprise, the feature Windows Registry happy to welcome to changes. But you feel more uncomfortable with Registry and you can use Group Policy Editor.

Note: Before using Windows Registry Editor on your Windows 10, it may render your system or unable to attend the operation, before you going to changes take backup your Windows system for making changes anythings.

1) Open Registry Editor with Win+R

2) Type ”regedit

3) Press Enter button –> OK

Navigate below key in the Registry Editor on the left-hand sidebar:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Microsoft\Windows\Windows Search.

If you don’t find ”Windows Search” key next to the Windows folder, make right-click on Windows folder and choose New–>Key–>”Windows Search”.

And now make right-click on ”Windows Searchkey–>New–>DWORD (32-bit) Value.

Next, Double-click on it Edit DWORD (32-bit) Value–>Value name–>AllowCortana–> Value data–>”0”.

Finally, you can close the registry editor. If you sign-in make a sign-out and again sign-in or put the system to restart before the system takes full effect.

If you don’t want this feature, the same way you walk through find the ”AllowCortana” value and remove and set ”0” to ”1”’.

That’s it.

Use Group Policy to Disable Cortana:

1) Launch Group policy editor through Win+R

2) Type ”gpedit.msc

3) Enter Ok button.

4) Move into Computer Configuration–>Admistrative Templates–>Windows Components–>Search.

5) Find ”Allow Cortana’‘ on the right side of the pan and make double-click on it.

6) Find ”Disable” and Click ”OK

Now you can close the group policy editor. You can bring the computer to restart to get the changes.
